We do not take repeat prescription requests over the phone or email with the exception of elderly, vulnerable or very young patients.
You can usually collect your prescription from the pharmacy 5 working days after you have ordered it.

Many pharmacies are open until late and at weekends. You do not need an appointment.
Most pharmacies have a private consultation room where you can discuss issues with pharmacy staff without being overheard.
Your GP surgery does not automatically issue repeat prescriptions for you and cannot issue medication any quicker than the time stated, even if you consider it as urgent.
It is your responsibility to ensure you have enough medication, ordering within plenty of time so you don't run out.
Although we aim to have prescriptions ready within this time scale, your local Pharmacy may have their own policy on collection times, once they have received the prescription from us.

Prescriptions are now signed, sent and processed electronically.
You nominate a pharmacy to dispense your prescriptions. When you get a prescription, the clinician will be send it electronically to the pharmacy you have chosen.
You can collect then your medicine or appliances or they can be delivered ifn you have chosen an online pharmacy so you do not have to hand in a paper prescription.
Paper prescriptions will continue to be available in special circumstances, but almost all prescriptions will be processed electronically.
Medication reviews are important.
They help us to provide you with the correct on-going treatment and to monitor your condition.
Many reviews can now be completed or part completed by the patient using our HEALTH PODS in the waiting areas which feedbacks the results to your clinician.
Some reviews can often be done by telephone, others need you to attend the surgery.

In some situations, we are not allowed to issue prescriptions on the NHS. A private prescription will then be issued for which a charge may be payable and you will pay the full cost of the medication at the pharmacy.
If you have seen a specialist on a private basis and have been given a private prescription, we cannot convert the prescription into an NHS one.

If you get your medicine with a repeat prescription, you can use the 111 online emergency prescription service.
They'll ask some questions, including where you are and when you are due to take your medicine so they can suggest the best way to get it.
They may refer you to a pharmacy to get your medicine.
If your medicine is not prescribed as a repeat prescription, you can get help from 111 online or call 111 to discuss your options.

HRT prescription prepayment certificate
If you pay for NHS prescribed HRT medicine 3 or more times in 12 months, an HRT PPC could save you money.
Each item on an NHS prescription usually costs £9.90. You can buy an HRT PPC for a one-off payment of £19.80 (the cost of two single items).
The HRT PPC covers an unlimited number of certain HRT medicines for 12 months, regardless of why they are prescribed.
