Appointments can be booked up to two weeks in advance.  If you have an urgent healthcare issue, you will be triaged and offered a same-day telephone call to determine the best way to help you.

This service will also advise you with minor illness, mental health and direct you to the right place.

We have triage appointments available daily for URGENT same day attention between 8am-6pm Monday to Friday. Please call 01256 702371 and speak to reception who will advise and help.

What does the NHS App do?

The NHS App allows you to access a range of NHS services on your smartphone or tablet. You can use it wherever you are, at any time.

You can:

• order repeat prescriptions
• book routine appointments
• view your GP medical record
• cancel appointments at your GP surgery
• use the symptoms checker, including an A to Z of conditions and treatment advice from the NHS website
• access 111 online, for advice on self-care and whether urgent help is needed

Please try and telephone reception on 01256 702371 before 10.00am if you require a home visit.

Routine requests made after 12.00pm will be dealt with the following day.

A clinician will phone you back as it could be that your problem can be dealt with over the phone, or that it might be more appropriate to send a District Nurse, or arrange a hospital attendance.

Home visits are only available for patients who are housebound because of illness or disability only.

Please remember that 4-5 patients can be seen in the practice in the time that it takes to make one home visit. There are also better facilities for examining and treating patients at the Health Centre.

PLEASE TELL US if you are unable to attend or no longer need your appointment, we can then offer this appointment to another patient.

Evening & Weekend Appointments are now Available

Odiham & Old Basing Health Centre work with Crown Heights and Bramblys Grange as part of a primary care collaborative group (Mosaic Healthcare) and in addition Hantsdoc to provide Improved Access appointments.

Patients registered at this practice can book an appointment to see a GP or nurse on weekday evenings after 18:30, on Saturday mornings at the surgery and Sunday mornings at Basingstoke Hospital. Appointments will take place at this practice, Crown Heights or HantsDoc (Whitewater Health, Hook).

Appointments will be primarily be on a Wednesday evening and Saturday morning, but some will be held on a Friday or Tuesday evening.  Please note - reception is unmanned during this time.

We have a texting service which allows you to receive confirmation and reminders about your appointments.

To have this service you will need to register by completing a consent form.

Odiham and Old Basing Health Centres are a training practice, training qualified doctors for general practice.

Qualified doctors who have already completed at least three years of hospital training join us for one year's experience to complete their training and you may be offered an appointment with them.

In our role as a training practice we are regularly inspected to ensure a high quality of care and efficient administration.

We also have medical students attached to the practice. You will always be asked beforehand if a medical student may be present at a consultation. Some of our nurses and health visitors are also qualified to train others and may have students attending their clinics from time to time.

Research

There may be research projects within the practice from time to time. If you are involved you will always be fully informed.

Sepsis is a life-threatening reaction to an infection.

It happens when your immune system overreacts to an infection and starts to damage your body's own tissues and organs.

You cannot catch sepsis from another person.

Sepsis is sometimes called septicaemia or blood poisoning.
