Test Results

Remember, if you are calling for test results, please phone after 14:00, when the receptionist will have more time to help you.

If you would like an SMS text message with your results please let us have your mobile number.

If your test has been requested by a hospital consultant, you should contact your specialist's secretary for this information.

 

test12Results of blood tests, X rays etc can only be given to the patient themselves for reasons of confidentiality.

The practice has a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection and we will only release test results to the person to whom they relate, unless that person has given prior permission in for the release of this data or if they are not capable of understanding the results.

Parents or guardians can obtain the results for children under the age of 16 years, unless the child requests otherwise.

 The following list show when Test results / reports / correspondences are usually available:

  • Blood test results within 3 days
  • x-ray reports within 7-10 days
  • Hospital letters within 4 weeks.

More in-depth tests may take longer, depending on the investigation so please check if your results are in from time-to-time. 

When you take your test you will be told how long it will be before the results are returned to the practice.

Remember that it is your responsibility to telephone or call the practice to check your results and to make an appointment to discuss them with your doctor or nurse if your are advised to do so, reception staff are unable to give specific details of your test results.

Remember you can also sign up for on-line services where you will be able to view your test results.
